Check it out: A new art ministry!!!

The things we bought for the ladies to look at and try to make similar products!

About a month ago, I was sitting in the living rooms of one of the Huaral ladies and she was crocheting and so was her sister. We had brought 2 ladies with us from Ventanilla who also are always making jewelry, knitting, crocheting, etc. I looked around and thought there is SO much talent in this room. They can make beautiful scarfs etc without even thinking. These women are so very poor, and it that moment the Holy Spirit just brought to my mind to start an art business with them. This is something actually that my dad and I have been talking about for a long time. He has wanted to me to start an export business with the United States and sell products that women here make, yet the timing was just not right. I did not have enough help, but now we have a team of 3!!! Did I mention, Jessi has decided to stay for another year?!? I am so excited. Anyway, the timing was right this time, and the ladies are thrilled. We have a team of 9 people that will be a part of this project. We are in process right now to get permission from the Municipality of Mira Flores to get a table in the year round art fair. This would be a huge blessing because all the tourist go to Mira Flores and their art stuff can be sold at a much better price.

One of these ladies before was making 100 handmade rings for 10 soles. It took her 40 hours to make them.Check out earlier blog about her: (http://laurenservinginperu.blogspot.com/2012/02/abusive-labor144-rings-for-375.html). Now if she made 100 and sold them in Mira Flores she could make 500 soles!!! Please be in prayer for this new ministry. If it works out well, we will add more people to the project and open another table etc. Also, if this stuff sells well in Mira Flores, we are looking at exporting it to the states to business there. Let me know if you want to order homemade jewelry, scarfs, art work etc. I am excited to see what God is going to do with this new facet of ministry. Also another requirement of this ministry  is that twice a month we have meetings and Bible study, about half of the people in this ministry are already active in our Bible study, yet the other half isn't. We are excited that these people are going to get to learn about Jesus as well through this new ministry!

Going to check out the art fair in Mira Flores
We went shopping with the ladies for their materials and  went out to lunch with them.
We shopped literally ALL day long!
The materials for the different ladies

This is a sample that the men already have, but for the future they will not be putting anything on their products with inkan idols etc.

As I have gone to check on how their products are going, mostly everyone has a little work station set up in their house! So proud of them! They are doing so good.
